Kohler PK-8 School recognizes that parents & families are their children's first and most influential teachers and that continued parent & family involvement in the education of children contributes greatly to student achievement and a positive school enviornment.
In order to engage parents/families in their children's education, the staff at Kohler does the following:

- Encourage parents/families to serve as volunteers in the school, attend student functions and school meetings, participate in site councils, and other advisory councils.
- Regularly communicate with families regarding events, homework, academics and behavior through a school wide weekly newsletter, individual classroom newsletters, the NTI phone calling system, monthly parent meetings, progress reports each trimester, and individual phone calls home and home visits.
- Offer parent/family educational opportunities including: the Latino Family Literacy Project, Community Based English Tutoring, weekly access to the Library Media Center, classes offered through Support Services around a variety of topics, and classes offered to our kindergarten and pre-school parents by our Curriculum Support Teacher focusing on literacy skills.

Family Friday's are our favorite days here at Kohler. This year we have decided to make it a little more fun. The last Friday of the month will be the days we have Parents join us both in the Morning and Afternoon. In the morning you can come from 8:10-8:40. During this time you can enjoy hanging with your students and reading time afte that you can meet in the Library for some coffee and updates with Mr. Durant. Then in the Afternoon you can come hang out with your student as they ENJOY FUN FRIDAY. This is the students favorite part of their day and they love when parents come hang out with them at school.
The District has asked that anyone that wants to come on campus whether to help in a classroom or come to family fridays that you get cleared by the district. So please follow the link when you scan the QR code and it will give you the directions on how to get cleared by the district.
Below are the step by step instructions on getting cleared through Twin Rivers to be in the classrooms and field trips.
- Have a Negative TB Clearance signed by the Doctor.
- go to twinriversusd.org website
- click on "Departments"
- click on "Human resources"
- Left side- click on "Volunteers/Chaperones"
- click on "Volunteer/Chaperone Application" link
- Enter Legal name and email address (of the Volunteer)
- Complete the application
- Upload Negative TB test form
- Click on "Submit form/Enviar formulario
- Once this is all completed and has been cleared to proceed, Human Resources will reach out to the Volunteer via email or phone to schedule their Fingerprinting Background Test with the DOJ.
- Once ALL is completed and the Volunteer has been cleared, Human Resources will send me the Volunteers TR Volunteer Badge and I will contact them directly to come and pick up their badge
